Dale Green

Dale Green, Professor

Chairman

Dale Glenwood Green is a Morgan State University Professor of Architecture and Historic Preservation and is a Vice President and Partner of Sulton Campbell Britt & Associates, PC., he bridges both the academy and practice where he built his reputation as a respected leader in the building industry. As what can best be described as a legacy steward, Dale has the unique role of occupying two historical post, following in the footsteps of his sixth great grandfather, Rev. Samuel Green, Sr. a visionary founder of Morgan State University and pioneering African American Architects John Dennis Sulton, FAIA, NOMAC and LeRoy Miller Campbell, AIA, NOMC the founders of Sulton Campbell Britt & Associates, P.C. (1964).

He works to develop new sites and preserve historical ones too. He is not only a respected leader in the building industry but also a sought after lecturer and scholar of African American heritage. Amongst his titles, he is The Professor of the Practice in the School of Architecture and Planning. As he teaches his students, he knows he is doing more than building their careers. He is answering the call of his ancestors, shaping young minds and skylines in the process.

Randolph Rowel, Ph.D.

Vice Chairman

Dr. Rowel is a descendant and one of the co-founders of the Rev. Samuel Green Foundation and currently serves as Executive Director. He recently retired as Department Chair for the Behavioral Services at Morgan State University and has over 40 years of experience working with low-income and marginalized communities. He intends to utilize his extensive practice, teaching, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training, grant writing, program evaluation, strategic planning, community organizing and community engagement experiences to achieve the mission of the Rev. Samuel Green Sr. Foundation. 

 As faculty and past department chair, Dr. Rowel worked exclusively on research concerning marginalized communities throughout Baltimore as evidenced by numerous publications and service on workgroups with agencies such as the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Rowel is also on the Luminis Health Systems Board of Trustees where he Co-Chaired the Health Equity Anti-Racism Task Force (HEART). Lastly, Dr. Rowel is President of RR & Associates, a family run public health consultant business that received contracts from the Chesapeake Bay Trust to build capacity of minority community-based organizations to apply for grants in the area of environmental sustainability. He received his undergraduate degree at Morgan State University and his masters and doctoral degrees from the University of Utah and the University of Maryland College Park, respectively.

Angela Hicks, Ed.D.

Secretary

Dr. Angela Hicks is a descendant and one of three co-founders of the Rev. Samuel Green, Sr. Foundation. In her role as Secretary, she is keeper of the Foundation’s books, ensuring the board operates efficiently and is in compliance. Similar to her ancestors Rev. Samuel Green, Sr. and his 1st cousin Harriet Tubman, Angela’s career path has followed “Education… The 21st Century Underground Railroad.”

Angela is CEO of Grant Professional, providing grant technical assistance to small and minority businesses. She has secured over $20 million in funds for public and nonprofit organizations mainly in green conservation efforts, community healthcare, and social programs. She’s been instrumental in establishing long term financial stability to community cultural arts programs.

After an academic year of teaching in Beijing China, Angela became the thought leader in establishing Global Link China, an international student exchange. She has engaged graduate students from Morgan State University and other schools in successful exchange trips to China.

Angela received her Doctorate in Adult Education from NC State University, holds a Masters and BA degree respectively from Bowie State and University of Maryland, College Park. She has taught graduate education at NC State and NC A&T State Universities. She is a dragon boat racer, and enjoys spending time with her family and granddaughter who knows her as Gigi.
